About the Warriors Legacy Project
Carrying Legacies Forward—One Adventure at a Time
The Warriors Legacy Program is a meaningful way to honor loved ones who have passed by carrying their legacy forward through service, nature, and connection. Through this program, supporters donate or purchase new or gently used kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, and similar outdoor equipment. Warriors in Nature Project then transforms these items into living memorials—each one representing a person whose legacy continues by helping veterans get outside, heal, and reconnect with purpose in nature.
This is not about storing memories on a shelf. It’s about putting them back on the water.
How the Warriors Legacy Program Works
- A Donation Is Made
Supporters donate or purchase new or used outdoor watercraft such as kayaks, paddleboards, or canoes. - We Restore & Prepare the Equipment
Warriors in Nature Project restores, refurbishes, and prepares each piece of equipment for safe use. When appropriate, the watercraft is customized or marked to honor the individual whose legacy it represents. - A Legacy Lives On
The equipment is used in Warriors in Nature Project programs to support veterans—helping them experience healing, connection, and adventure in the outdoors.
Each piece becomes a memorial in motion, carrying a story, a name, and a legacy forward.
Why This Program Matters
For many families, friends, and supporters, finding a meaningful way to honor a loved one can be difficult. The Warriors Legacy Program offers a way to turn remembrance into action.
- Legacies are honored through continued service
- Veterans benefit from access to outdoor experiences
- Nature becomes a place of healing, reflection, and connection
- Stories are carried forward, not forgotten
Every paddle stroke becomes a reminder that their impact continues.
Honoring the Legacies We Carry So Far
We are deeply honored to have already carried forward several powerful legacies through this program.
- Bob Sutter, MSGT, United States Marine Corps
Late husband of Sandy Sutter - Loris (PED) Johnson, United States Army
Father of Sandy Sutter - Jeff Hitchcock, United States Navy Veteran
One of the first recipients to receive a state park pass through Warriors in Nature Project, who passed unexpectedly last year
So far, three kayaks have been donated through the Warriors Legacy Program. Two have been fully restored and are already ready for the water, with the third currently in progress.
Each of these watercraft carries more than veterans—it carries memory, love, and continued purpose.

A Living Memorial
The Warriors Legacy Program exists to remind us that service does not end—it changes form. Through water, wilderness, and shared experience, the names and stories of those we’ve lost continue to move forward.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to honor someone special, we would be honored to help carry their legacy.
Their story continues—every time a veteran finds peace on the water.
